چکیده

Abstract Wadi Abu Subeira area contains many farms and houses is one of the promising areas for iron mining. Therefore, 21 surface soil samples were collected investigated toxic heavy metals (Pb, Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, Co, As) using inductively coupled plasma (ICP) to establish a geochemical baseline these during pre-mining conditions. To decipher sources their interrelationships, multivariate statistical analysis was applied, while evaluate degree pollution potential environmental risks indices used. Abundances Pb, As fluctuated from 17.72 0.06, 47.12 10.86, 47.88 9.25, 45.04 6.23, 51.93 17.82, 10.55 1.24, 7.04 1.66 mg/kg, respectively, displaying declining trend Zn > Cr Ni Cu Co Pb. Additionally, mean concentrations all studied found be significantly lower than selected international reference standards. Pearson correlation coefficient, principal component analysis, cluster revealed two geogenic associations elements: (1) Zn-As-Ni-Cr-Cu-Co; (2) Negative I geo values observed metals, which showed that uncontaminated can considered study area. Moreover, CF or close 1, suggesting low contamination levels supporting association with natural geological processes. Similarly, Er RI below 40 150, indicating low-risk environment. Ultimately, obtained used as tracking future changes in accumulations sediments considering current assessment an environmentally safe

Exposure assessment of heavy metals pollution enriched in core sediment samples of river Nile, Aswan, Egypt

The river Nile is a dominating physical feature of the northeastern part of the African continent, covering areas exhibiting varieties and contrasts in topography, climate vegetation and people. So, in this study, we estimated the contamination of the Nile sediment with some major and trace heavy metals in core samples which can cause some undesirable health effects. Concentrations of all eleme...

Geochemical and environmental assessment of heavy metals in soils and sediments of Forumad Chromite mine, NE of Iran

Heavy metal concentration in the soils and sediments has increased worldwide during the last century due to the mining, smelting, and industrial activities. The Forumad chromite deposit is located in the Sabzevar ophiolitic complex (SOC), with a long history of mining activities, yet very little is known about the heavy metal contamination in its surrounding environment. In this research work, ...

Geochemical fractionation of some heavy metals in soils in the vicinity of sukinda mining Area, Orissa

Geochemical fractionation of selected heavy metal in soils from Sukinda mining area was studied using single and sequential extraction technique. The concentration pattern was observed as: Al > Cr > Zn > Cu. The average concentration of total copper, chromium, zinc and aluminum was 10.18 μg g, 11336μg g, 84.64μg g and 20832 μg g, respectively. Watersoluble fraction of heavy metals were quite lo...

environmental effects of gol-e-gohar iron ore mine on groundwater of the area

gol-e-gohar iron ore mine of sirjan in southern part of iran is a large open pit that operates below the groundwater table and during mining operation, dewatering is required to prevent operation processes from flooding. current operation is going on by digging wells in or out of the pit and pumping to prevent flooding. as a result of the former dewatering operation a vast deep cone of depressi...

Geochemical Distribution of Heavy Metals and Assessment of Environmental Indicators in Chah-Shaljami Polymetal Ore deposit, South of Birjand, Iran

The Chah-Shaljami polymetal ore deposit contains heavy metal anomalies in various mineralization zones. Geochemical distribution and correlation of elements in surficial soilsindicate that sulfide, sulfate, sulfosalt and silicate mineral occurrences (e.g. Pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena, sphalerite, molybdenite, enargite, hornblend and biotite) in mineralization and stockwork zones resulted in the...
